About the George W. Bush Presidential Center

The George W. Bush Presidential Center, also referred to as the Bush Center, invites visitors to reflect on the lessons of the past, focus attention on the problems of the present and inspire solutions for a better future. Located in Dallas on the campus of SMU, the Bush Center includes the George W. Bush Presidential Library and the action-oriented George W. Bush Institute.

Construction for the Bush Center began in the Fall of 2010, but the Bush Center is already breaking new ground in several ways including: its unique and environmentally-friendly construction and design; the scholarly research and action initiatives of The Bush Institute; and the innovative technology embedded in its website and for the state-of-the-art museum experience coming with the George W. Bush Presidential Library.

The George W. Bush Presidential Center inspires ideas, innovation, and action for a freer and better world.

• A dynamic complex to serve as a resource for the region, the nation and the world.
• A presidential library to preserve and present the history of the Bush presidency.
• An Innovative institute to develop practical, measurable solutions to the world’s most pressing problems.

Work at the Bush Center is based on the principles that guided President George W. Bush and Mrs. Laura Bush throughout their lives:

• Freedom is universal.
• Each human life is precious.
• To whom much is given, much is required.
• The marketplace is the best way to allocate resources.

The Bush Institute

The George W. Bush Institute seeks to improve the human condition through education reform, global health, human freedom and economic growth. Across all its programming, the Bush Institute empowers women through its work in the Women’s Initiative. And the Institute honors the sacrifices and service our U.S. servicemen and women and their families make for our freedom through Military Service Initiative. Guided by the vision of President and Mrs. Bush, the Bush Institute develops unique solutions to pressing issues and leads a network of partners to achieve lasting results.
