A Celebration of Human Freedom
May 15, 2012
On Tuesday, May 15, the George W. Bush Presidential Center held a special event to celebrate the brave efforts of dissidents and activists around the world in their fight to be free. Joined by leading voices of liberty, President Bush delivered major remarks on the fight for freedom being waged across the globe. The event also highlighted the newly unveiled Freedom Collection – a living repository containing inspirational stories from the most important freedom movements of the 20th and 21st centuries, told by the brave men and women who fought, and continue to fight, against repressive regimes.

Warrior 100K Ride
April 26-28, 2012
On April 26-28, 2012, twenty servicemen and women wounded in Iraq or Afghanistan joined President George W. Bush for a 100 kilometer mountain bike ride in Palo Duro Canyon State Park. As part of the George W. Bush Presidential Center’s Military Service Initiative, the W100 highlights the bravery and sacrifice of the warriors wounded in the global war on terror, as well as those organizations that have made continuing commitments to supporting America’s heroes. Tax Policies for 4% Growth

Through this conference and other events, the 4% Growth Project will identify changes in government policy and business practices that will produce higher growth and advocate those changes to policy makers and the public. The aim of this conference, as well, was to change the economic conversation in America so that it focuses on growth and what causes it. The Freedom Collection Launch

The Freedom Collection is a central feature of the Human Freedom initiative at the George W. Bush Institute. It is an active, living archive that documents the struggle for democracy and human freedom around the world through the personal stories of men and women who have led or participated in freedom movements. Drop of Vinegar

Around the world, hundreds of thousands of women lose their lives to cervical cancer every year because a simple screening procedure is not reaching them in time. The Dalai Lama Visits the Bush Center

The Bush Institute’s Freedom Collection received a valuable addition yesterday, when His Holiness the Dalai Lama gave President George W. Bush an early draft of the 1963 Tibetan Constitution, which he promulgated a few years after being exiled to India. Warrior 100K Ride

Teach for America

Recognizing the value of excellent teaching in the classroom, Teach For America and the Bush Institute appreciate that good school leaders are needed to transform schools. Through a national network of innovative training sites, the Alliance will create an expanded and more rigorous selection process, improve principal training, change the management context in which principals operate (more authority and increased access to data), and construct a national certification program for principals.
