Bush Center Design & Construction Updates

October/November 2011 Construction Update (50% Milestone)

  • Building Components
    • Super-Structure – All structural elements of the Presidential Center are complete following the erection of the final beam on October 3, 2011. The final steel beams for the Oval office were placed in mid-November.
    • Roof Membrane – Roof decking and membrane installation started in October and are approximately 70% complete. Roofing is scheduled to be complete during December 2011.Construction Progress: October/November 2011
    • Building Envelope – Brick and stone veneer installation started in August 2011 and is currently on schedule at approximately 55% complete. Window glazing units are on schedule at approximately 60% complete. The building envelope is scheduled to be complete in February 2012 which will allow for the start of interior finishes that require humidity control prior to installation (drywall, plaster, carpet and wood flooring).
    • Interior Partitions – Interior masonry walls are nearing completion in preparation for interior finishes. Metal stud walls are in progress and scheduled for completion in January 2012.
    • Mechanical Systems – Major mechanical systems are installed in preparation for startup in January 2012.
  • Landscape
    • Planting – The landscaping Construction Progress: October/November 2011continues to progress and will start to accelerate during the planting season between December 2011 and May 2012. Soils are currently being placed in preparation for grass and wildflower planting season.
    • Tree Installation – 95% of the trees have been tagged and are being prepared for transport to site during the planting season.
