The George W. Bush Institute

The George W. Bush Institute turns ideas into practical, measurable solutions for pressing public problems. Through its focus on education reform, global health, human freedom, and economic growth, The Bush Institute works to unleash human potential. In all its programs, the Institute engages women and social entrepreneurs as proven agents of change in society.

Guided by the founding principles that freedom is universal; all life is precious; to whom much is given, much is required; and results matter, the Bush Institute’s areas of engagement include:

  • Education Reform: The Institute seeks to ensure that every American high school graduate is college-ready or prepared for a good job. Institute initiatives include a nationwide initiative to empower principals and superintendents to lead America’s schools, a focus on improving middle schools to keep students on the path to college- and career-readiness. Based on the educational reforms of “No Child Left Behind,” the Institute champions change based on the principles of accountability and results.
  • Global Health: The Bush Institute works to improve the health of impoverished people throughout the world and is leading an effort to integrate health services for women and children in Africa during pregnancy, childbirth, and the critical early years of life. The Institute’s work on global health builds on the historic accomplishments of President and Mrs. Bush’s fight against AIDS and malaria around the world.
  • Human Freedom: Inspired by President and Mrs. Bush’s unwavering commitment to freedom for all people, the Bush Institute works to embolden dissidents and freedom advocates, creating a powerful network for moral support and education. The Freedom Collection at the Institute presents the personal stories of struggle and achievement told by the men and women who led freedom movements from the last century through present day.
  • Economic Prosperity: The Bush Institute aims to spotlight the environments in which free markets thrive. The Institute also explores economic opportunity in specific industries, including domestic energy.
